Hi! I’m Laura.
I’ve been interested in sustainable + ethical textiles and design practices since my early teens. Watching a 2008 documentory about the use of child labor in Primark’s production, made me realise the true cost of cheap clothes and the fast fashion industry. Since then I have read every book and watched every program on the subject. I knew this was something that needed changing and I wanted to be a part of it.
I went on to complete a degree in Textiles for Fashion and Interiors with a focus on woven textiles and natural dyeing. My own textiles work focuses on creating products and developing processes which are envronmentally sustainable. My primary focus is creating and brewing my own dyes using all parts of a plant, from the roots to the skin of the fruits.
At the same time, Indigo Honeycomb was founded. At first, we started as a more general art + design blog, and after a year hiatus, we have evolved in to eco design blog.
